1.The « Conciergerie » and John the Fearless Tower
Two aspects of the Middle – Ages : the Knight, John the Fearless, and the Tower ; the Palace of King St Louis (Louis lX) named the « Conciergerie ». The « Conciergerie » became a prison where Louis XVl and Queen Marie – Antoinette were jailed. It became the main prison of Paris. The guards’ barracks was built in the 14th Century.
2. « Notre Dame Cathedral » and John the Fearless’ Tower. To admire the towers and the rosaces. Each Rose Window depicts a Saint being martyred and the « instruments » used : stones for St Stephen who was lapidated. In fact, rose glass windows were used as « comics » to teach Christian Faith to people who could not read in those times .
